    In a battle of beast versus man, the bulls won the won the battle but lost the war in the bull-riding event of the 67th annual Whoop-Up Trail Days rodeo.
    With 12 bull riders, over the two days, the bulls were leading 0-10. Bob Voegel of Great Falls, on the 11th bull managed to hang on for eight seconds and put up a score of 68.
    Voegel’s ride and score stood up as the last rider of the day had a no-score ride and Voegel went home with the first place money of $583.27.
    In the Bareback riding, John Collins of Lewistown put up a score of 76 to win first place and $526.40. Ben Wrzesinski of Boulder was in second with a 75, $394.80; Scott Owners took third with 72, winning $263.20 and Luke Warner of Whitefish placed fourth with a score of 71, taking home $131.60.
    The Saddle Bronc event paid out five places with Jordan Harmon of Twin Bridges getting $527.34 for a ride that scored 73. Doug Kallenberger of Havre was in second, winning $403.26.
    Hoke Lytton with a 68 was in third, winning $310.20. Boe Reeverts of Browning had a 58, getting $201.63 and LeRoy Eash had a ride that scored 56 and took home $108.57.
    In the timed events, for Steer Wrestling, Shannon Blixt of Helena brought the steer down in 5.9 to get first place and $391.04.
    Jason Armstrong of Helena was in second at 6.1, winning $293.28. Roddy Cameron of Townsend placed third in 8.5 for $195.52 and Jon Hoovestal of Helena with a time of 9.6 won $97.76.
    The Calf Roping segment had Cory Gilbert of Conner in first place with a time of 12.0, winning $391.04. John Entz of Browning placed second in 21.6, winning $293,28. Shane Bessette of Belt placed third with a time of 22.4 and won $195.52 and Neil Tatsey of Valier placed fourth in 25.4, winning $97.76.
