One of the biggest social events of the year, the annual Christmas Stroll, sponsored by the Conrad Area Chamber of Commerce is set to take place on Dec. 1. Following are the times of various events that will be taking place around our fair city.
From 4-9 p.m. there will be vendors and crafters at the Moose Lodge and Pondera Village Shopping Center The Home Café is offering free chili and cinnamon rolls for a Food Bank donation from 5 p.m. until it’s all gone. From 5 – 9 p.m. there will be an arts/craft and bake sale fund-raiser for Bill Forrest at At Home Furniture on Main St. The Christmas Stroll opening ceremony, as usual, will take place in front of the courthouse steps from 6 – 6:30 p.m. with an invocation by Father Poole. The PMC will be sponsoring free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings at Olson’s Drug, 6 – 8 p.m. The Conrad Transportation and Historical Museum gift shop will be open at 6 p.m. for one-of-a-kind unique Christmas gifts. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. and going to 8:30, these events will take place: Santa Clause will be visiting little and not so little kids at Stockman Bank. Christmas music and hot apple cider will warm the cockles of your heart, Wells Fargo Bank is offering free hot chocolate and goodies, the Lions Club will be cooking their world renowned Whoop-Up burgers in front of Pure Bliss Cycle, and across the street, Gary and Leo’s IGA will have tasty sampler platters to try out. You will not want to miss the live Christmas tree auction at Courtesy Ford with Gerald Miller doing heavy duty as the auctioneer. The Christmas tree auction is a CofC fund-raiser in which the proceeds go to replace the holiday lights that are strung up each year. The Chamber is down to one strand of garland now, that crosses Main St. due to the weather elements and time, which takes its toll. To purchase a new garland is no small matter. Replacement cost is just about $3,000. New replacement wreaths, such as the ones with a candle on the base, go for about $500. Bulbs, of which it takes about 100 to replace each year, can be picked up in our local stores. The other CofC fund-raiser for street decorations is the raffling of the “Giant Christmas Stocking,” chock full of items donated from the local merchants. The raffle drawing will take place on Dec. 20 at the Chamber office, just in time for Christmas. For more information about the Christmas tree auction or stocking raffle, contact Laurie Morris at Courtesy Ford or Chamber secretary Shari Richter. Christmas street decorations will be going up the morning of Nov. 25 about 9 a.m. Eddy Erickson with help form Mountain View Co-op, Sun River Electric and NorthWestern Energy head the annual project up. |
