It doesn’t seem possible, but the annual Christmas Stroll is right around the corner, coming to you on Dec. 5. There will be more later in The Independent-Observer, but to whet your appetite for the evening there are a couple of new items added to the Stroll festivities. With a theme of “Shop at Home” there will be a business-decorating contest. The best-decorated business will be voted on by the public as they stroll from merchant to merchant. The winner will be announced at the Christmas tree and wreath auction. At the auction this year, more wreaths will be sold than last and bidding on trees will begin at a lower premium as well. Proceeds from the Christmas tree and wreath auction will be used to purchase new street decoration lights. Four new decorations have been bought and will be going up the light poles the Nov. 29. In addition, a kid’s cardboard parade is being planned. Floats have to be decorated out of cardboard. It will start at 5:30 p.m. and go to the courthouse, accompanied by Mr. Santa Claus where the festivities will begin at 6 p.m. There is still openings for vendors. If you would like to participate, contact Barbi Killion at the Chamber of Commerce at 271-7791. The I-O will have much more on the Stroll in an upcoming issue as it draws even closer.
