Page 1 of 2 By Buck Traxler, I-O Editor Friday evening marks the rollicking good time of the Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas Stroll. The community event gets going with opening ceremonies, as usual, on the front of the courthouse steps at 6 p.m. However, there are two happenings that standout in this year’s celebration. One is the visit of Old Saint Nick at Stockman Bank, beginning right after the opening ceremonies at about 6:30 p.m. This years visit marks the 75th anniversary of Santa Claus stopping in Conrad to take Christmas wishes from the young, and well, the young at heart too. The second is the Christmas tree auction that will be held at Courtesy Ford starting about 8 p.m. There is a new wrinkle to the auction this year. In the past, proceeds from the auction have gone to purchase new street decorations. But for now, the CofC has enough new decorations. Proceeds from the tree auction will go to benefit a local not-for-profit entity in Conrad. Whomever they may be, will be announced after the auction is over. Another new addition to the auction is that wreaths will be auctioned off for the first time as well. There are eight to choose from and they come from 3 Rivers Communications; Hidden Treasurers; Gianarelli Law Office; Motivations Fitness and Beyond and Scrapbooking, and A Shear Happiness; At Home Furniture; Gustafson and Rohrer attorneys; Pure Bliss Cycle and Jathco.
