City accepts bid for solid waste containers PDF Print E-mail

    Council members moved on Monday night to accept a bid from PenPac out of Oklahoma for solid waste containers.
PenPac had the low bid, $153,869, among three other companies. Other bids came from Capitol Industries for $199,500, Solid Waste System in Spokane for $222,600 and WasteEquip in Colorado for $194,400.
    Public Works Director Rich Anderson noted the PenPac bid was much lower because the city is also getting a new truck from them.     The truck and refuge containers will come to approximately $344,000.
    Members of a city Growth Committee were announced and they include Judy Ellis, Laurie Eisenzimer, Barb Shephard, Karla Breding, Chris Berg, and Debbie Wilcox.
    Also named were members of the City Planning Board that include Wendy Judisch, Gary Dent, Karla Breding, Laurie Eisenzimer, Chris Berg, and Ralph Caputo.
    A Consolidated Interlocal Planning Board will consist of Gary Dent, Wendy Judisch, Karla Breding and Ralph Caputo. The council also passed R-958, which concerns the formation of this board.
    In other action coming out of a public hearing portion of the meeting, the council approved a motion to allow the Pondera Arts Council to apply for CTEP (Community Transportation Endowment Program) funds to be used for a new threatre marquee.
    The aldermen passed R-959, concerning animal fee increases. All $3 dog and cat license tags will increase to $4. All other license fees will remain the same.
    In a police report to the council, Chief Dent noted that in November, the department received 154 calls for service.
    In part, they included two accidents, two alarms, five reported thefts, no DUIs, four folks received a ride home, 79 various assists, 22 animal calls and two felony arrests.
    In his department report, Anderson said crews were still cleaning storm drains, bathrooms at Legion Park were winterized and closed down, crews were working on equipment at the city shop and plans are in the works for a rural water school to be held in Conrad in March.
    One building permit was approved for 20 N. Maryland to put in a basement bathroom.
    The next regular meeting of the council will be Dec. 17, 7:30 p.m. in city hall, 411-1/2 S. Main St.
