Cowboys topple Horns, 61-58 PDF Print E-mail

    The Cowboy basketball team bounced back from a big loss to Shelby and held on to stop Fort Benton on their court, 61-58, Thursday evening.
    Conrad broke open a close contest, 15-14, after the first frame by going on a 24-19 run to carry a 39-33 lead to the locker room at the break.
    Over the second half, the ‘Horns rallied back and outscored the Cowboys 25-22, but it was too little  as the home boys hung on for the win.
    Garrett Grubb, with a long trey, hit the nets for 18 points to lead all scorers. Lane Judisch popped home a couple of long bombs and got into double figures for scoring for the first time this season, cashing in for 11 points.
    Justin Prewett knocked down eight markers, Eric Norby scored five, Bryce Nelson did the same, Nathan Gage added four and Riley Styren three.
    The Cowboys moved their record to 2-3 overall and are 0-1 in conference play.
    They connected on 23 shots from the floor and were 11-17 at the line.
    Fort Benton scored on 21 shots from the filed, but got no help from the charity stripe as they were just 1-3. The Longhorns fell to 0-5 overall for the season.
