Cowgirls harness Longhorns

    In their final home game of the 2007 season, the Cowgirls manhandled the Fort Benton Longhorns, 57-27.
    Conrad exploded for an 18-4 lead early on and led 25-6 at the intermission and coasted on to the win.
    Katie Schlepp and Lyndsey Green combined for 31 points, 19 and 12 respectively, to lead the scoring.
    Kylee Schlepp, Jenny Silvernale, Cassie Peters and Beth Grubb all had four points, while Anna Pearson and Samantha Fagan each had a hoop.
    The Cowgirls cashed in on 23 shots from the field and were 4-6 from the line. Fort Benton hit on 12 shots from the floor and went 2-5 at the line.
    The Longhorns fell to 0-6 while the home girls moved up to 2-3.
    As the sports games curled down for the Christmas holiday, the Cowgirls came up with a big win on the road over Cut Bank, defeating the Wolves 45-34.
    Cut Bank was 3-1 up to this point and Conrad 2-3, so the win gives them a much-needed shot in the arm.
    The Cowgirls jumped out early to an 11-4 lead in Cut Bank and were still on top at the intermission 19-13. Down the stretch, the Cowgirls outscored the Wolves 26-21 for the win.
    After the holiday break, they head down the road to Fairfield who is holding on to first place in the conference with a record of 1-0, 4-0 overall.
    Senior Green scorched the nets for 18 points, leading all scorers.
    Katie Schlepp cashed in for nine points, Kylee Schlepp hit for six markers, Pearson did the same,  Peters added four and Grubb hit a hoop.
    The Cowgirls canned 14 shots from the field and scored big at the charity stripe, going 17-32. Cut Bank hit on 10 shots from the field and went 8-21 at the line.
