I-O Photo by Buck Traxler Conrad extended their volleyball season for one more week, placing fourth at the 1B District volleyball tourney in Choteau over the weekend. In the opening match on Friday, the Cowgirls faced off with Shelby and ran away from the Coyotes in straight games with scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-20. The first game saw six ties and four lead changes but the contest was never in doubt for Conrad. Some key plays saw Kenley King and Amber Judisch making big blocks at the net. A nifty set by Katie Schlepp for her sister Kylee to bump the ball over for a late 16-14 lead, and a huge kill shot by Ashley Beckham to the back line put Conrad up 19-14. Another neat set by Katie Schlepp for a kill shot by Lyndsey Green to get the score to 23-15. Judisch put the first game in the saddle bags with an ace, 25-15. In the second game, Jenny Silvernale got a kill shot with Conrad trailing to make the score 16-19. Later Heather Newmiller made a super diving save, popping the round ball up for a kill shot by Judisch, putting Conrad up 22-21. King put the game away with back-to-back ace serves, 25-22. Kylee Schlepp opened service in the rubber game and went on a 5-0 run and Conrad never trailed. Kelsey Zomer added a four-point run getting the team up to 9-3. Katie Schlepp iced the match with a kill shot. The Cowgirls ripped back 34 kill shots, 14 more than Shelby, led by Katie Schlepp with 13. She also had 10-24 assists. King dropped in 6-11 aces, Newmiller got 12-41 digs and Kylee Schlepp had 4-9 blocked shots.
