Sadly, the Cowgirls basketball season came to a close at the divisional meet in Cut Bank after the team rallied back to place third in the tournament.
Conrad drew the late game on Thursday, going up against the Glasgow Scotties.
With the exception of Cut Bank who faced Malta, Conrad and the other 1B teams had little trouble in winning their opening round matches.
The Cowgirls thumped the Scotties 61-46.
They jumped out to a 28-15 lead and outscored them 33-21 down the stretch to post the first round win.
Three players, Lyndsey Green, Cassie Peters and Kylee Schlepp all sliced the nets for 12 points each. All were deadly from the line, with Peters going 6-6, Schlepp 6-8 and Green 4-4. Schlepp also matched her point total with rebounds, 12, for a double-double game.
Katie Schlepp banged home nine markers, Anna Pearson popped for six, Beth Grubb tallied five scores, Jenny Silvernale added four, and Kaytlin Fowler had a free throw.
Conrad connected on 18-44 shots from the floor and were 25-34 at the line. The Scotties hit on 13-51 shots from the field and 14-20 at the line.
Malta beat Cut Bank 75-33, Shelby did the same to Wolf Point, 79-41 and Fairfield stopped Plentywood 50-34.
The Eagles win, combined with the Conrad victory pitted the two teams in a face off with each other in semi-final action on Friday night.
For the most part the game was over in the first quarter. The Eagles jumped out to a 19-9 lead, led 35-14 at the break and outscored Conrad 41-11 in the second half to win going away, 70-25.
Green led the team in scoring with 11 points. Katie Schlepp added eight, Peters four and Fowler had a hoop.
The Eagles dished out 14 assists to the four for Conrad. They had 22 steals to four for the Cowgirls and 13 turnovers to 27 for Conrad.
The team hit on 9-46 shots from the floor and were 4-5 at the line. The Eagles were 28-54 from the field and 11-21 at the line.
The Eagles had 21 points from players off the bench while Conrad had two and 24 points off of turnovers to eight for the Cowgirls.
Cut Bank downed Wolf Point 58-49, Glasgow stopped Plentywood 52-20, and Malta beat Shelby 56-36.
The date was set for the host team and Conrad to tangle on Saturday morning.
