The Cowgirl volleyball team was in Shelby on Thursday and rebounded from an opening set loss to down the Lady Coyotes in straight games and win the match.
   Team scores went like this:  20-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19.
Conrad players, led by Kaytlin Fowler, dropped in 14 aces against the Coyotes. Fowler pumped over six. A stingy Cowgirl defense allowed just three ace serves by Shelby.
Kylee Schlepp powered over 17 of the squad’s 36 kill shots. She and Fowler each put up 10 of the 36 digs.
Kenley King blocked 4-8 shots at the net and Fowler dished up 12-27 assists.
Saturday in the team’s home opener, Conrad hosted the Lady Longhorns from Fort Benton.
The Cowgirls suffered a defeat, losing the match in four games by scores of 26-24, 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.
In the opening game, at one point, the Cowgirls were trailing 9-18. However a nifty rally and good defense got them into a 24-24 tie and then Jenny Silvernale put the set in the books, 26-24, with a big kill shot.
Once again, in the second game, the Cowgirls fell behind early and were down by as much as 9-18. They pulled close, getting the contest within four points at 15-19, 16-20, but the Longhorns held on for the 25-18 win.
The third game was close for a while, but after Conrad pulled close at 9-11, Fort Benton came on to take the contest 25-16.
In what became a pattern for the match, the Cowgirls fell behind early and had to rally back.
The squad got close at 16-17, fell back to 18-22 rallied again on an ace serve by Kenley Kin and a neat bump shot by Kylee Schlepp, getting to 20-22, but once again the Longhorns held on to win the game, 22-25 and the match.
The Cowgirls had 13 aces in the match. Silvernale powered over six to lead the way. King dropped in a pair.
At the net, Kaytlin Fowler, King and Silvernale each had a pair of blocked shots,
King powered back 13 kill shots, Schlepp knocked over five, and Sydney Philipps and Silvernale each had four.
Fowler dished up 13 assists, Taylor Johnson four and Silvernale four as well. King put up 10 digs, Melissa Barringer had nine and Schlepp eight.
Friday a tough Choteau Bulldog team comes in for what is always a super match.
This is a Homecoming game with the early action starting about 4:15 p.m.
