    Due to the recent interest in the city’s curfew ordinance the I-O is again printing the hours and an explanation of the city ordinance.
    Except when accompanied by a parent or an adult acting with or by the authority of a parent, or except when on an errand for the parent, when in legal employment, shall any child less that eighteen (18) years of age go about in a vehicle, on foot or otherwise be on any street, avenue, road, alley or any public place with the city between the hour of 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, or the hour 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
    And the hour of 6 a.m. following; provided however, that the hour of 10:30 p.m. shall not be applicable but that the hour of 1 a.m. of the day following shall be applicable to the going about of children less that 18 years of age on the day preceding any legal holiday and shall be similarly applicable during the period of Dec. 23 to Jan. 1 inclusive (Chapter 3 Section 6-3-1))
    Except as above excepted, no parent and no person acting by the authority of a parent shall permit any child of the ages above named to violate this Chapter, and lack of knowledge of such violation shall constitute no defense.
    Parents and others shall have a timely forewarning of violations and the opportunity to set a good example and to correct violations in the privacy of the home.
    The police officers of the City shall immediately take all children found in apparent first violation of this Chapter to the police station and summon their parents, legal guardians or other persons in loco parentis to the police station and upon their arrival, the child shall be remanded to the custody of parents, legal guardian or other persons in loco parentis.
    The officers shall make a report to the Chief of Police of all children apprehended, their residences, their parents and others, if any, charged with their custody.
    If such parent, legal guardian or other persons in loco parentis cannot be located, said child or children or any of them found in apparent violation shall remain in the custody of the Police Department, to be turned over to juvenile authorities, as the Chief of Police may see fit, for custody until parents or guardians can be located and summoned.
    Thereafter, any child found in apparent second or subsequent violation of this Chapter shall be delivered to the juvenile authorities for disposal as the Juvenile Court shall decree and any parent or any other person charged with the custody of such a child shall, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.
