Golf Team nets honors
GOING TO STATE – The Cowgirl golf team placed second at the divisional meet in Missoula and will hit the links at the Marias Valley golf course on May 15-16 to compete for a state title.     The Cowgirl golf team did what they had to do on Monday, going out and placing second at the first divisional tournament at the Ranch Club near Missoula.
    Kylee Schlepp paced the Cowgirls with a score of 92, which won her medalist honors in the tournament.
    Jenny Silvernale placed 11th with a 109, Cassie Peters came in at 14th with a 114 and Kenley King’s 120 and Andre Spicher’s 143 rounded out the team scoring.
    Seeley Swan won the girl’s team trophy shooting 420. Conrad was 14 strokes back with a 434. Cut Bank placed third and Missoula Loyola fourth with a 458 after losing a one-hole playoff.
    The top four teams and 15 individuals advance to the state meet.
    On the boys’ side, Thompson Falls rolled to the team title with a 319. Loyola was next at 329, Cut Bank third at 333 and Plains fourth with a 336. The Cowboys placed eighth with a 348.
    Lane Judisch with his 81, is the only Cowboy going to state. He shot a 44 going out on the front nine and came back with a fine 37 to placed 11th.
    Ryan Riewer came in with an 85, Nate Gage an 89 and Eric Norby and Rhett Orcutt both shot 93s.
Friday, the varsity team played in the Fairfield Invitational.
    The Cowgirls brought home the first place trophy with a 415 score.
    Silvernale placed second with a 96 followed by Schlepp in third with a 97. King shot a 105 and Spicher a 117.
    The boys’ team came in sixth.  Judisch shot an 83, Gage 87, Orcutt 95, Moon 96, Riewer 98, and Norby 99.
    Saturday the teams were in Cut Bank for the regular season finals.
    The Cowboys placed sixth. Team scores went this way: Fort Benton 314, Fairfield 31, Cut Bank 328, Shelby 328, Sunburst 334, Conrad 343, Valier 412.
    Riewer shot an 80 for sixth place. Judisch shot an 81 for 11th place. Gage turned in an 83, and Norby a 99.
    The girls had only three players for the tourney so couldn’t post a team score.
    Peters shot a 94, which tied her for third place. Silvernale had a 98, good for seventh and Spicher shot a 111.
    The state tournament will be held in Shelby at the Marias Valley Golf course on May 15-16.
