BIG TACKLE – Senior Cowboy, Cutter Martin, on the bottom, makes a big tackle on a Wolves running back during their contest in Cut Bank. Closing in to help is number 31 Eric Norby and number 32 Seab Larson. Conrad suffered a 12-13 loss to their north county rivals. I-O Photo courtesy of Kelly Martin The school year has only just started and it seems like it is just flashing by and super sonic speeds. Homecoming activity has already hit the school and is getting into full swing for the weekend finale. Students began Monday by celebrating Couch Potato Day, saving up their energy for the big weekend games. If you happened to stop by CHS, you might have noticed a lot of students lounging around in “sweats” and tee shirts. Tuesday was a little more traditional, being Theme Day, with students and faculty showing off their school spirit, dressing up class theme decade attire. Wednesday was a semi-serious day at the school with students getting business like for Homecoming. Heritage Day was on Thursday with everyone showing their pride in family roots and that worked right into Red and White Day on Friday when everyone dressed up in the school colors. The senior class Homecoming King and Queen candidates this year are Aaron Lehnerz and Jamie Ries. Junior class candidates are Eric Norby and Melissa Barringer. Sophomore class candidates are Seab Larson and Kenley King. Freshman class candidates are Grant Johns and Kylee Schlepp. The Homecoming King and Queen and their court will be announced right after the Saturday morning Pep Rally in the CHS gym that begins at 9 a.m. The Lady Bulldogs from Choteau will be in Conrad for the Cowgirls to take on Friday. Early action starts on the gym court at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday is the really big day of Homecoming. Student classes will be lining up their floats early to be judged at the high school just before the Pep Assembly. After a number of funny faculty and student skits, the parade will begin at 10 a.m. This year the Cowboys will host the Shelby Coyotes with a 1 p.m. kickoff. If you did not come to the Pep Rally, you can see the Homecoming King and Queen at halftime of the football game when they will be introduced. The winners of the floats, hall decorations and sprit winners will also be announced. Immediately after the football game the Conrad Booster Club will host a barbecue in front of the CHS commons. Everyone is invited to stop by and get a super burger. In a twist of activity this year, there will be a dodge ball game at 6 p.m. in the CHS gym with high school students attempting to take down UMS. Then, a lot of happy feet will hit the dance floor at 9 p.m. in the commons for the celebration of the Homecoming dance. The dance will put a wrap on a week’s worth of fun filled activity at the high school.
