I-O Photo by Buck Traxler Whether you are a first-time rider or experienced, a Montana Motorcycle Rider Safety RiderCourse® will assist you to ride your best. A class will help you to develop and hone skills and confidence you need to ride right – and ride safe. There are two levels of training, a basic class for novice and beginning riders and an experienced class for more advanced street riders. Students with similar skill levels learn to together. In the basic class, students spend about five hours in a classroom learning skill needed to ride safely and then about 10 hours on a riding range. The class is taught over two days. The advanced class is designed for riders with at least one year or 2,500 street miles in a variety of traffic situations. When you complete the course, the riding skill test for a Montana motorcycle endorsement will be waived when you present your completion card within one year of the issue date. Many insurance companies offer a premium discount to riders who have competed the course. Locally, the course is taught by Larry Thorsen.
