Page 1 of 2 Lieutenant Commander Mike Musegades was born and raised in Conrad, graduated from Conrad High School in May, 1983 and reported to boot camp in January 1984. Upon completion of RTC San Diego, he reported to NATTC Millington, Tenn., for Aviation Electronics Technician “A” School where he was also a member of the Flying Rifles Drill Team. After “A” school, he reported to HS-2 in San Diego and deployed onboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) for West Pac ’85. In 1986, he was promoted to AT2, was selected for the BOOST program and reported to NTC San Diego for the 15-month school. Upon completion of BOOST, he attended the University of Idaho UofI). In 1991, Musegades graduated from the UofI and was commissioned through the Enlisted Commissioning Program. He continued his studies at the UofI and earned a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1992. He was designated a naval aviator in September 1993. Musegades’ first operational flying tour was with the Chargers of HC-6, based in Norfolk, Va., where he flew the H-46. While attached to HC-6, he served as a detachment Assistant Operations Officer, detachment Operations Officer and the squadron’s Quality Assurance Officer. He deployed aboard the USS KEARSARGE (LHD-3) on her maiden deployment during which time he was part of the team that rescued Air Force Captain Scott O’Grady from Bosnia. He also deployed on the USNS San Diego (TAFS-6) and on the USS Trenton (LPD-14) during the TWA flight 800 Recovery Operation.
