Friday, 15 December 2006
The Pondera Medical Center Employee of the Year award was presented Friday to an employee who has been taking care of PMC patients and residents for more than 23 years.
Vicki Newmiller was honored with Employee of the Year at the annual PMC Christmas party on Friday.
During the ceremony, Jim Christensen, CEO presented her with a special plaque and a $200 check.
Newmiller was nominated for the award by one of her co-workers, Haley Denzer who commented, “She is very loyal and dedicated and many employees look up to her as a role model.”
Newmiller recently added the Nursing Home and Ancillary departments to her list of many duties. According to Jill Swanson, “She handles every situation with patience, grace and integrity. We all know we can count on her to get the job done.”
Newmiller commented on winning the award, “I have worked at PMC for over 23 years and I still like to come to work every day. The staff here understands the focus of care to residents of our community. We are a strong family who care for each other and our community.”
Mary Johns stated, “I have the utmost respect of Vicki. She represents PMC as a kind, caring professional employee and many other employees look to her for her leadership.”
Since the start of her employment at PMC in 1983, she has been directly involved with virtually every department in the facility.
While she enjoys management, Newmiller also craves direct interaction with patients and residents.
In her current role as Chief Operations Officers, she gets the best of both worlds, supporting the Acute Care, Extended Care, and Ancillary departments, while maintaining her relationship with the public. Christensen also noted, “Vicki is very deserving of this year’s ward. Over the past several years, she has stepped up in several instances. Her expertise and knowledge in the healthcare industry is beyond compare and much appreciated.
She joins past winners including: Pat Hagen, Marcia Hanley, Shirley Lohse, Charlie Harris, Nell Watterud, Kim VanDam, Kaye Moritz, Cathy Jochems, Eleanor Salois, Edith Berthelson, Cathy Jones, Janet King, Tammy Sherrard, Wayne Nyberg, Steve Olson, Nadeen McCracken, Sally Habets, Archie Breding, Vince Carlson, Kelsy VanHeel, Nancy Carlbom, Mary Elkins, Randi Eppe, and Janice Kastner.
