In the “Big Parade,” The Stockman Bank – Joe Christiaens and Gerald Bruner driving rig was a first place winner. For Adult Horses, Thales Mullennax (Hayford Harness) placed first and for Youth Horses, Deidre Mecham came in first. The Republican Party was a first place winner in the float division with a Flying Pachyderm. The Red Hat Ladies got second, the Shooting Sports Club was in third, the Museum Clock Fund had fourth place, 4 U Collision came in fifth and Horizon Lodge was in sixth place. The Whoop-Up Motor Show, held in the Conrad Lions Club Swimming Pool Park had a double winner. Ozzy Samsal had the Best Ford entry with a 1958 T-Bird which also captured the People’s Choice award. Richard Ebert, with a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville, won the Best GM entry. A 1970 Dodge Challenger, owned by Jim Lake won the Best Mopar award. Taking Best Other title was, at the time, a 1971 VW Campmobile owned by Kirk Kestler. This vehicle took you back to San Francisco, Haight-Ashbury, Hippies, Peace signs, and Flower Children. Shane Hegle, with a 1950 Mercury, won the Best of Show award. Terry Schwindt won the clock drawing, Pure Bliss-Gib McKinley won a gift basket and Jon Kronebusch was a winner of the Mark Martin Hood. Friday at the Pondera Golf Club 15 four person teams fought winds that kept scores high, for a scramble event. In the men’s division, the top three places and scores went like this: Kevin Kovatch, Tucker Kuka, Joel Kuka, and Erik Nelson, first place with a 68. Jared Robinson, Tom Robinson, Alex Olson, and Chad Underdahl were one shot back at 69 for second. Andy Vandolah, Paul Stenerson, Tom Coleman and Bob Peters combined for a 70 to get third place. On the women’s side, Donna Warwick, Denise Frigge, Lacey Patterson and Diana Ketcheson came home with an 81 to place first. In the mixed division, Ryan Eisenzimer, Shawn Brown, Kelsey Kohoutek, and Cash Coleman put together a round of 70, two under par, to place first. There was a tie for second place, broken by the scorecard with Jon and Shirley Kronebusch and Ruth and Doug Powers edging out Callie Yeager, Vanessa Yeager, Ben Hodgskiss and Bill Hodgskiss. Both teams shot a 75. Individual hole prizes went to Frigge for long drive-women; Underdahl, long drive men; Kovatch, closest to the pin, women; Kohoutek, closest to the pin, women; closest to the water, men, B. Hodgskiss; closest to the water, women, Kohoutek; short drive, men, Ryan Eisenzimer; short drive women, Patterson; long putt-men, Kronebusch; and long putt women, Ketcheson.
