Opportunity knocks for Andrew Hilyard
Page 2

His mother will be accompanying him to Hollywood and will rejoin her husband, Kurt Hilyard, once their son reaches 18 years of age.
The move will be an adjustment for BJ Hilyard, who is in her eleventh year of teaching kindergarten for the Dutton-Brady school system.
But those who have seen BJ Hilyard in Pondera Players productions won’t be a bit surprised if, while waiting around on the sideline, she also lands a bit-part in a show or a commercial.
“You never now,” she giggled. “Amazing things can happen when you’re in the right place at the right time.”
While show business might appear to be all fun and games, Andrew Hilyard admits that it’s a lot of hard work – really hard work. “I am a little worried about that part,” he said.
But knowing what the work requires and liking the fast-paced environment have helped this quick-witted ambitious teenager adapt like a chameleon.
Besides furthering his own personal goals, Hilyard’s hard work to establish himself as a budding actor is also producing friendships along the way.
Approximately five thousand participants and family members gathered at IMTA where about two thousand would-be actors and models competed, each in hopes of being noticed and singled out. But team competition is also included, requiring participants to work with each other.
Hilyard’s team, comprised of himself and five individuals from Great Falls, ranged in age from six to 27.  The team spent three months preparing for IMTA with weekly lessons in Great Falls by Ain’t It Good Productions.
“We got to hang out together every Saturday for three months,” said Hilyard. “Classes are finished, but we’ll stay in touch.”
In the team competition, teams could select from three categories: dancing, singing or fashion. Hilyard’s team competed in the fashion category. Their performance, featuring a Superman theme, placed them in the top five.
Though it appears he’ll be hitting the Hollywood runway on a run, Hilyard also promises to keep in touch with his friends, and fans, back home in Conrad.
