Simpson also reported to the board that the net loss for May was $50,434 The Year to date net loss for 2008 is $324,652. The Year to Date total operation expense is under budget by $89,533. The net gain for the same period in 2007 was $347,533.
In another report, Kathy Danielson, RN/DON noted that the current resident at the Extended Care Unit is 56, with 59 beds available.
She informed the board that families are less likely to permanently place a resident during the spring and summer months. Admissions historically increase in the fall and winter months.
On a unanimous vote of the board, they entered into a CEO services agreement with the Kalispell Regional Medical Center (KRMC).
From the resolution, Bokma noted, “There are significant advantages in partnering with a trusted regional partner to provide and employ the new CEO, at least in the short run of the next two years.”
The agreement can be cancelled at any time by PMC board action and the CEO placed by KMRC can be removed at any time, also by board action.
When a new CEO is hired by the search committee, a salary, which is yet to be determined, will be paid by KMRC.
The board also moved to partner with KMRC in doing an in-depth analysis and review of the hospital.
It is estimated that the cost of the study will not be more than $50,000. Palagi said the cost to the PMC would be capped at $25,000. Meaning if the cost of the study goes higher than $50,000, the PMC share of the cost will go no higher than $25,000. Possibly it may cost less than that.
The study will have a concentrated focus on management staff, will review all hospital systems, review the key PMC services, patient migration to other places and draft a plan for the PMC board’s approval.
In other news out of the PMC, the selection for a new CEO has been narrowed to three candidates, Scott Brown, Terry DeJong, and Eugene Suski.
All three are slated for interviews this month.PMC facing an array of challenges
