THINKING ABOUT IT –- This young lady is in deep thought about what she is going to say to Santa Claus during the 75th anniversary of his visit at Stockman Bank during the annual Christmas Stroll on Friday evening. Pictures of other visitors to St. Nick will be put in the Christmas edition of the I-O. I-O Photo by Buck Traxler The Christmas season really got going in Conrad on Friday as hundreds of folks came out for the Chamber of Commerce Christmas Stroll. Business shops up and down Main St. had many people stopping in and there were enough goodies to help keep folks warm as they trekked up and down the avenue for the annual event. Pastor VanderVeen gave an opening prayer at the courthouse steps and elementary Christmas theme winner, Kinsey Harris read her winning story and then turned on the community Christmas tree at the courthouse. Jayne Gollehon was the winner of a $250 CofC raffle. Shannalee Finlayson and Katey VanderVeen led a large crowd in the singing of a couple of popular carols and then everyone was off for an evening of fun. At the museum there were more carols being sung and live historical tours of the museum. The library had hot apple cider and more music. Ruth Erickson, Terry Aakre and Jackie Knox RN were taking blood pressure and blood sugar counts at Olson’s Drug, kids were having fun at a carnival at Meadowlark School, and for a food donation at the Home Café, there was free cinnamon rolls and chili that would help fortify you to your next stop down the street. It was a big night at Stockman Bank as they celebrated 75 years of having Santa Claus visit and take wishes from young children and a few not so young kids. There were more goodies and hot chocolate to sample at Wells Fargo and The N’ thing as well. You could get coffee and a Polish dog at the Lobby and more coffee and a sip of wine at Motivations and Beyond.
