Triangle cropping seminar set for Jan. 15 in Conrad PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 04 January 2007
The MSU Triangle Cropping Seminar has been scheduled in Pondera County for Jan. 15 at 9 a.m. in the Conrad Community Center.
Peggy Lamb, agronomy research associate at the MSU Northern Agricultural Research Center near Havre, will provide an up to date review of small grain varietal plot results for the area. She will also discuss camelina and other ongoing oilseed crop research taking place at the center.
Chet Hill, Area Valued Added Specialist from the NDSU Research Center in Williston, will provide area producers with options using oilseeds as a rotation crop.
Dr. Sue Blodgett, MSU IPM Specialist, plans to give producers an introduction to potential new cropland insects. The Orange Blossom Wheat Midge is one of several insects she plans to discuss. This will probably be her last visit to Pondera County, so you will want to make a point of visiting with her about insect problems on your farming operation.
Dr. Alan Dyer, MSU Plant Pathologist, will review various crop diseases such as Stripe Rust and Fusarium that farmers have been finding in this area.
There will be a 4 Private Pesticide Applicator credits available for producers. For more information, contact Dan Picard, Pondera County Agent at 271-4053.
