Trustees OK hirings of coaches |

School trustees approved coaching recommendations at the their regular meeting, putting their stamp of approval on the hiring of coaches. Gary Dent was hired as a boys’ basketball intramural coach for grades 5-6. Cory Winters will be the eighth grade Buckaroo coach and Tyler Bucklin will coach the seventh grade team. Blake Pruttis was named as the UMS concession manager. Students of the Month were recognized. They included Dania Jones and Tyler Richter from Meadowlark, Emily Weisgram and Dallas VanLuchene from UMS and Jason Silvernale from CHS. Karl Bjelland gave a high school council report to the school trustees. A representative from L’Heureux, Page, and Werner Architects was on hand to give trustees information on a locker room addition. No action was taken at this time. Mike LaCourt from Johnson Controls gave a presentation in performance contracting, looking at the heating and lighting in all facilities. No action was taken on his information presentation. From the school principals, Greg Jensen from PVS noted students are involved in making a new school sign. CHS principal Ken Larson reported on upcoming activities and noted that enrollment, at 212 students, was up. Principal Craig Barringer reported enrollment was down by seven students. A program, Alta Care, was discussed. This is a program through Social Security to provide additional counseling in the schools. The program doesn’t cost the school district anything other than providing space. This option was discussed with no action taken. Short-term goals were also talked about with more information to come at a later meeting. Classroom visiting dates for the school trustees was set for the week of Nov. 12-16.
