“This is the frustrating part,” Bokma noted, “We were in the process of identifying some things our employees felt needed to be addressed as the result of an employee survey that was conducted before the petition was filed. Now, we have to put that process on hold.” Recently, the PMC board of trustees hired Rick Palagi, a senior executive with Kalispell Regional Medical Center, as an interim CEO to bring some stability to the management and help recruit a permanent CEO. “The board and management team are committed to treating all of our employees fairly and creating a superb place to work,” he told the I-O. “I’ve been impressed with the dedication and time that the board is spending along side of our managers to put the PMC back on track,” said. “We hope that all of our employees want to work with us side-by-side to do the right thing for each other, and first and foremost, our patients.” “My hope is that our employees recognize the trustees’ commitment and give us a chance to work though our issues and re-energize our future,” he added. In other news out of the hospital, it was reported out of the finance committee that in the month of April, the hospital incurred an operating loss of $110,885. Last year at this time, the PMC had an operation gain of $56,944. The year-to-date net loss of 2008 is $274,218 compared to a net gain of $302,126 over the same time last year. It was reported that the biggest issue was low revenue. Other budget issues included higher than expected physician recruitment, professional fees, bad debt expense along with maintenance and repair.
