By Deanna Wakkinen, I-O Reporter Buck Traxler, Conrad’s Independent-Observer Editor for the past 26 years, has undergone triple bypass surgery. As an effort to assist him with medical bills, a Halloween party is being hosted at the Pondera Golf Club in Conrad. The night will get underway with dinner starting at 6 p.m. Big Ox BBQ is providing pulled pork sandwiches, homemade french fries, baked beans and coleslaw. There will be a small charge for dinner and free-will donations will also be accepted. Bring your costume and enjoy music provided by Todd Truscott beginning at 8 p.m. There will be an adult costume contest and there will be a winner in the singles and couples group as well as to the wearer of the sexiest costume. Trophies will be awarded to the winners. Bucket raffles will be set up throughout the night and an arm’s length of tickets can be purchased and each ticket can be placed in the bucket of your choice for your chance to win.
Raffle items include a two-night stay at the Conrad Super 8, a $700 will writing package from Gianarelli Law Office and a fishing package from Mountain View Co-op. Other various baskets include bundled packages of products and gift certificates from area businesses. One basket includes MSU-Bozeman apparel in a Bobcat duffel bag; two others include a massage, a pedicure and a manicure. There will be a bit of everything for everyone. For those wishing to donate a basket or items to the bucket raffle may do so by dropping items off at or by contacting the I-O. During the night, 50/50 tickets will also be sold. For those wanting to make a direct donation to Traxler, please make checks payable to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. For more information on the benefit, please call the Independent-Observer at 271-5561.
