Mark your calendars folks. It’s time for the Conrad Chamber of Commerce’s Harvest Festival set for Oct. 14 right on Main Street. Promised to be a gala affair, what could be better than lots of food and fun? That’s what you’ll find at the Beef and Bison Cook-Off which begins at 2 p.m. on Main Street. And according to Chamber Manager Shari Richter, it’s not too late to enter your favorite recipe. Just give her a call at 271-7791. The winner of the event will be presented a “Traveling Trophy” for display in their home or business as well as walking away with a $75 gift certificate. The art and craft vendors will be set up on the Pondera County Courthouse lawn and there is still space available. Pie anyone? Sign up for the pie-eating contest to be held in front of Olson’s Drug at 4 p.m. Or you can play a game of “Cow-Pie Bingo” at Courtesy Ford beginning at 4:30. And as they say on TV, “Wait, there’s more,” you can buy a raffle ticket and win a trip to the National Finals Rodeo, which is held in “Sin City.” That’s Las Vegas to those who are not familiar with the nickname. Then there is the always-popular 50/50 tickets being sold during the day and live entertainment will be heard from the parking lot of the Conrad Transportation and Historical Museum. In addition, the museum will be open for you to take one last look at the Smithsonian Exhibit, Key Ingredients: America by Food. And for your dining enjoyment, the museum will be serving Polish dogs, hot dogs, German potato salad, cookies and drinks for a nominal fee beginning at 6 p.m. Now comes the finale. The winner of the Beef and Bison Cook-off will be crowned along with the 50/50 winner and who the lucky person will be heading to Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo. This will all happen at 6:30. If you are still interested in participating in any part of this exciting festival, give the Chamber a call at 271-7791.
