After what seemed like a ton of snow earlier in the week the golf teams were able to get back on the course.
A JV golf meet still had to be cancelled in Choteau, but their varsity tournament on Saturday was played in Chamber of Commerce type weather.
The Cowboy team came on to smoke the competition and take first place with their overall depth. Four players were in the 70s for their round.
Conrad placed first with a 303 team score. The other squads placing and team scores went like this: Fort Benton 327, Fairfield 328, GF Central 364, Choteau JV 366, Cut Bank 384 and Sunburst 389.
Nate Gage placed third with a nifty round of 73. He won a three way chip-off to get the medal.
Taylor Ratliff of Fairfield and Zach Johanssen of Sunburst were one shot ahead with rounds of 72.
Just one shot back of Gage was Rhett Orcutt with a 74 that netted him a sixth place.
Wyeld Converse and Kyle Ellis tied for eighth place, each shooting good rounds of 78.
With only two women out, the Cowgirls can’t field a team. Fairfield took those honors with a 394, beating out Belt 443, Cut Bank 457 and Centerville 463.
However, freshman Tori Fladstol and senior Jenny Silvernale had a very good tournament in individual play.
Fladstol in her first year, fashioned a neat 93 over the Choteau golf course to place second. She too, was in a tie for second and won the chip-off over Brooke Aberg of Centerville.
Cowgirl senior Jenny Silvernale also had a good round, putting together a 95 and placing fifth.
Coach Kim Hofstad told The I-O, “We are so proud of our Cowboys and Cowgirls, they played well this weekend.
Joe O’Brien came in with a round of 85, Ramsey Offerdal shot an 88 and Steven Peters had a 112.
Tuesday the golf team hosted a triangular meet at the Pondera Golf Club. Friday is the Conrad Invitational and on Saturday the JV goes into play.
