Pondera Medical Center CEO, Mark Jones, and Dr. John Taylor, announced on Thursday that the PMC has purchased the optometrist practice of Dr. Taylor.

The business is located on the corner of 403 S. Delaware

Dr. Taylor has agreed to stay on as an optometrist for the PMC until July 1, while a search begins for an optometrist to take his place.

He plans to retire at the end of 2010.

The purchase of his practice was made possible through Taylor’s generous donation to the PMC Foundation of all office and optometric-related equipment, allowing the PMC the ability to take over with very little start-up cost.

Dr. Taylor began his practice on July 5, 1972 at 407 S. Delaware and moved to the present location as the practice grew.

He has provided eye care to many of Conrad’s citizens as well as people of the surrounding Tri-county area for 39 years.

Commenting on the sale, Jones tells The I-O, “The PMC is excited to build on our continuing mission of providing access to quality healthcare in our region and exceeding the expectations of those we serve.”
