“HELLO STITCH” — Bessie Gemar, a resident at the PMC-ECU, meets “Stitch”, a Hereford bull calf owned by Lynda Barker and her family. Stitch had a great time being petted and scratched by the residents. The calf was part of the family barbecue held for the Extended Care Unit. Photo courtesy of Lynda Barker, PMC-ECU
The Pondera Medical Centers’ Extended Care Unit (ECU) recently held a Back to the Barnyard theme barbecue.
Residents and family had a unique chance to see some farm animals, have a BBQ and listen to some super music.
The families and staff brought in potluck salads and desserts while the PMC provided the hamburgers and hot dogs.
Ike Hall, Frank Crowder, Louis Carroll and Jay Hardman provided everyone with some neat music.
Charlene Bouma brought in a goat, the Don Mecham family brought in two horses, some chickens and rabbits. Steve Hoffman had his dairy heifer and dairy bull café and Bryan and Jenna Barker brought in a steer that is headed to the State Fair and a Hereford bull calf.
The weather cooperated for an evening on the patio with company and music.
The animals were taken around for everyone to pet after dinner and the smaller animals even went inside to visit the residents and family who chose to eat inside.
