Schools open doors for a new year of business

Special to the I-O by Lynn Utterback, Superintendent of Schools

Conrad Schools are open for business again this week.

We are excited to begin a new year and have quite a few changes that we would like to share with our students, parents and community.

First of all, we have a new web site at .

On this web site you will be able to access district and individual school calendars.  In addition, current announcements, event schedules and times, lunch menus, staff directories and information, and a plethora of other information.  Families may register at to receive important announcements automatically about school closings, disasters, or schedule changes.

From this site there will be a link to Infinite Campus which will allow parents to log in and check on their student’s grades and current assignments.  We will be sending out information and helping parents learn how to access their student’s information at the High School open house.

The Meadowlark Open House will be Sept. 1 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Prairie View Open House will be Thursday, Sept. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The Utterback Middle School Open House Sept. 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. Parents will receive their child’s schedule and move from class to class meeting each of their teachers.

The High School Open House will be Sept. 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Parents will receive their child’s schedule and move from class to class meeting their teachers.  There will be instruction on how to help parents log in to the portal to see their student’s progress and help them register on the sites.

We have a new preschool/special education teacher, Mary Behr. She is replacing Kamie Barnhill, who has relocated to a first grade teaching position.

We are excited to have her.  She transferred to Conrad after working for several years in the Cut Bank School system.

The high school Volleyball season has already started, and the results from the Choteau tournament are in the sports section.

The girls play in Shelby Thursday starting at 4:15 p.m.  Football season will begin this Friday at home with the Malta Mustangs at 7 p.m.

Lunch Prices have changed.  After no increase for the last few years, we have had to raise our prices and we are in line with the area schools.

We are no longer able to offer free breakfast to all students in grades K through five.  However, those families who qualify for free or reduced lunch will also qualify for the free or reduce breakfast.

The paperwork for free and reduced meals must be filled out every year.  Please turn in this paperwork as soon as possible.

The forms are in the school newsletter or may be picked up at the Central Office. Breakfast will only be served at Meadowlark School multipurpose room this year.  There is a shuttle bus that runs from Meadowlark to Prairie View school in the morning.

Breakfast prices are $1.25 for students in grades K-12. It is a great bargain and a great way for students to start a successful school day. Lunch ticket prices are $2.25 for grades K-6; $2.50 for 7-12: and $3 for adults. All of the weekly and monthly price information is in the school newsletter on the second page along with the reduced meal prices and extra milk costs. The meal menus are on the covers.
