The city council took care of business and breezed through a light agenda Monday evening.
A request to appoint Rick Moss to the city part of the Growth Policy Committee (GPC) was approved on a 4-0 vote.
The GPC will have a meeting tonight (Wed.) in the library at 6:30 p.m.
The Growth Policy, readers will recall, is a community wide vision with city, county and Valier board members tasked to the future of Pondera County and how and where it wants to grow. When completed the document will be an official statement of public policy.
There are now 21 members representing all of Pondera County working on a policy statement that includes land use, population, housing, economic conditions, local services and natural resources. In short, when completed, the Growth Policy document will be a plan for the future of our communities.
Councilwoman Wendy Judisch, who represents the city on the library board, announced that Janet Spears will be the new chairman. Greg Jensen is the vice-chairman. Other board members include Erin Brenteson, Jim Finlayson and Monica Taylor.
The aldermen approved a request from the Conrad Area Chamber of Commerce to use Norley Hall for their annual meeting and banquet on Feb. 11, 2011. You may want to mark your planning calendar for this event.
In related CofC business, the council approved closing Main St. for the Christmas Cardboard parade. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the council members will be on Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m. in city hall at 411-1/2 S. Main St.
The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend council meetings .
