Members of the Growth Policy Committees (GPC) and a consultant will be available in Conrad, Dupuyer and Brady during the week of Jan. 24 to provide information, answer questions and listen to residents.
“The committee members want to provide an opportunity for persons throughout the county to share their thoughts in an informal local setting,” Anne Cossitt, a GPC consultant, tells the I-O.
The committees will consider the information from these sessions in their recommendations.
Committee members invite anyone interested to show up at the following times and locations:
Jan. 26, 7:30 – 9 a.m. at Home Café in Conrad; Jan. 26, 11:30 a.m.– 1 p.m. at the Dupuyer Cache in Dupuyer; and Jan. 27, 8 - 9 a.m. at Mountain View Co-op in Brady
There are separate committees for the growth policies being prepared for Conrad, Valier and the County. The Valier Committee will meet on Jan. 25, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Civic Center.
The Conrad Committee will meet on Jan. 26, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Conrad Library, and the Pondera County Committee will meet on Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Conrad Library.
This is the sixth meeting for the committees since April 2010 and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
The committees will also host public open houses on Feb. 22 and 23.
The committee members will then finalize their recommendations in draft plans to be submitted to the planning boards of each jurisdiction.
The planning boards will hold public hearings before making their recommendations to the governing bodies of Conrad, Valier and Pondera County.
Growth Polices are comprehensive plans and address a variety of issues including land use, housing, streets/roads, water supply, economics and natural resources.
The committees have been working on the plans for several months and all meeting agendas, summaries, and draft documents are available on the internet.
