The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners has declared the week of February 14th to the 21st as Alzheimer’s and Dementia Education Week.  Pondera Medical Center Extended Care will be acknowledging this week with a comprehensive dementia education series that will be offered to our staff, residents, families and community.

The purpose of the comprehensive Dementia Education series is to insure our staff continues to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to our dementia residents.  This enhances our resident’s quality of life and our families feel more confident in the care that is provided by trained and educated staff.

Throughout the week, our nurse educator will be providing an education series on a variety of relevant dementia topics.

We invite the community to celebrate and acknowledge Alzheimer’s and Dementia Education Week and invite them to participate in the education series through a “Brown Bag” lunch session on Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 12-1 in the PMC Conference Room. The topic will surround caring for loved ones with Dementia, how to prevent caregiver burnout, and relay information on support resources for families.

As Pondera Medical Center celebrates Alzheimer’s and Dementia Education Week, we encourage community neighbors to visit our facility, take a tour, and join in the education series.
