Get ready for another Hot Flash, you won’t need a cold shower for this hot flash, though. Back by popular demand, Hot Flash, the musical comedy written and directed by Conrad’s own Phyllis Ann Philipps, is returning to the Orpheum Theatre/Weigand Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on March 10-12.
Featuring a cast of 23 local performers, original songs, touching poems and hysterical readings, this show is about four best friends who are dealing with each others’ life-changing crises. Hilarity ensues as they bond over a “bucket-list” goal to compete in the Wallawatchee Women’s 52nd Annual Talent Spotlight.
Almost a year and a half ago, Hot Flash debuted on the Orpheum’s stage.
“We had been asked to do the show at the Myrna Loy Theatre in Helena and were very disappointed when it didn’t work out for us to perform there,” Philipps commented. “Now, since so many have asked, we have the opportunity to do a reprisal of the show. I am truly humbled.”
When Philipps wrote the play, she patterned the story after real-life friends who were dealing with similar issues.
When asked why the production was being done again, Kit Finlayson, who plays one of the four friends, explained, “So many people have expressed how this production really touched their hearts. Many others told us how disappointed they were that they weren’t able to see it the first time.”
“After consulting with the Pondera Arts Council and the cast, it seemed like now would be a perfect time to do a reprisal,” added Philipps. “And we always have so much fun together!”
Opportunities like this to do not happen very often, so be sure to get your tickets early. You won’t want to miss this side-splitting weekend of fun!
Tickets may be purchased at Olson’s Drug, Village Drug and the Orpheum Theatre.
