Conrad drama students are in rehearsal for the first major production in the new auditorium.
“Everyone is especially excited about performing in this gorgeous facility,” says Beth Ann Bolmeier, who is directing the play.
Chickenheart is a play set in an aging abbey during medieval times.
Lady Emma Chalfont, played by Afton Mielke is pursued by the unscrupulous Sir Cutbert Cleever, played by D. J. Mecham. She takes refuge in the Abbey of the Little Sisters of Saint Meade.
The sisters are played by Erin Awtrey, Nikki Linn, Megan Coffelt, Alexis Samsal, and Kira Mills.
Raymond Hough plays the loyal sidekick to Sir Cleever, while McKenna Mielke accompanies Lady Chalfont. Cassie Robertson plays Lady Emma’s mother.
The timid tailor, Norman, played by Jake Bender, admires Lady Chalfont from afar. He is accompanied by his doubting sister, Lynne Spears.
As a way of saying a big “thank you” to the Conrad community, admission to this play will be free this year.
Tours of the backstage facility will also be available after the show each night. Former drama students are especially encouraged to attend and share in our good fortune.
Cameo roles are available by contacting Bolmeier at the high school, 278-3285.
The play will be presented March 17, 18, and 19 at 7 p.m. and is produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Engelwood, Colo.
