Positions open for city election

Elections will be held this fall in the City of Conrad to elect a Mayor to complete the unexpired term of John Shevlin who resigned in March.

Alderman Wendy Judisch was appointed by the council to replace Mayor Shevlin and Mayor Judisch is currently serving the residents as Mayor.

Under Montana election law, the appointment is only until the next election and the position will be on the ballot this fall.

Three aldermen (council members) will also be elected; two for a four-year term and the third will be for the unexpired two-year term held by Alderman Judisch prior to her appointment as the Mayor.

The alderman seats appearing on the ballot and the current officeholder of each are Ward-1, a one four-year term currently held by Sandy Syvertson and one two-year unexpired term currently filled by Ron Widhalm.

In Ward-2, there is one position that will appear on the ballot, that of alderman and serving in this capacity presently is Wally McHenry.
Ward-1 consists of Precinct-24 and Ward-2 is Precinct-27. The alderman position not up for election this year is in Ward-2 and is held by Karla Breding.

It is not known at this time if any of the current office holders will be filing for re-election to their respective positions.
