Debby Perry, Meadowlark, Prairie View and Utterback Middle School counselor, was nominated for and has been awarded the Montana School Counselor Award, MSCA.

Perry was nominated by Principal Craig Barringer, soon to be UMS Principal Tara Thielman and Becky Meier. Her nominators wrote, “Mrs. Perry epitomizes what we look for in educators and counselors. Her ‘can do’ attitude is infectious. She is a leader by example in our district, and our school system is a much better place to work because of all she does for staff, students, families and our community.”

Perry was surprised as she was presented her award by her nominators at the MSCA School Counseling conference in Bozeman in April. Four counselors were recognized in the state.

Perry was then invited to the Evening of Excellence Awards ceremony in Helena. She noted that others recognized there included Niki Campbell Carlbon who is a graduate of CHS and Darren Schlepp who is the son of retired Conrad teacher Cheryl Schlepp.

Carlbon received the Montana Council of Administrators of Special Education Regular Educator of the Year award for her excellent work in the classroom in Augusta.

Schlepp received the National Distinguished Principal Award for his outstanding work in the Edgerton Elementary School in Kalispell.

Perry has been a counselor in the Conrad school district for 19 years. Previously she was in the Brady school district for 11 years and Fairfield for three.
