Fraud alert: Be wary of services offered at too good of a price

There has been a report in the state of vehicles stopping in towns with young looking people who attempt to sell magazines door-to-door.

They have stated that they represent an Atlantic Circulation, Inc., company.

The young people say that they are working on school money needs or other worthwhile sounding causes but in fact they encourage payment in cash or check.

The money is taken, but no magazines are forthcoming.

Chief Gary Dent tells the I-O, “We have had similar groups pass through our area in the past. It is not unusual for them to come through on weekends and they use that excuse for not having a local business license.”
