It’s time again for the Marias Fair and we all know what that means - carnival rides, fair food, good times and the Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day. The fourth annual TETWP day will be held on July 23. Wearing pink that day will show your support for those battling breast cancer and also helps fund those same individuals through the Hi-Line Women Against Breast Cancer.
The Hi-Line WABC is a non-profit organization that provides not only moral support but financial support for women in and around the Hi-Line battling breast cancer. Whether it’s paying for gas or just being there in their times of need, the Hi-Line WABC members help to make things easier for those with breast cancer. When you wear pink to the Fair on July 23, the Marias Fair Board will support the organization with a donation to support WABC’s work.
If you don’t have pink to wear, never fear. Tough Enough caps, shirts and bandanas will be sold on Saturday in front of the Creative Needle during the parade and during the rodeo next to the grandstands. All proceeds from the merchandise will go to the Hi-Line WABC. You can also contact Pondera County 4-H member Jessica Stenson at 289-0376 to purchase merchandise between now and July 23.
To show their support, Marias Fair 4-H members in the Horse project will ride in the grand entry at the rodeo on Saturday sporting pink. You can expect to see plenty of cowboys and cowgirls decked out in pink during the action packed rodeo. You’ll also find plenty of 4-H supporters at the livestock sale on Saturday afternoon who will be showing off their pink. The Hi-Line WABC and 4-H hope that they will also see the crowds at all events on Saturday wearing pink to support an important cause.
Going away party for Stenson at Legion Park
There will be a going away party for Adele Stenson, Pondera County Extension Agent, on July 26, 6 p.m. at the American Legion Park in Conrad.
Food and drinks will be provided and there will be a free will offering to cover the meal costs.
There will be a short program following the picnic. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by July 23, leaving a message at 278-7732 or 271-4054 so cooks can line up enough food.
Folks are also asked to bring lawn chairs.
In case of bad weather, the party will be held at the Pondera Shooting Sports building just past the ball fields.
