As a special for the I-O we will be running a bi-monthly ‘Spotlight on Business’ with an emphasis on their contributions to our community and their history.
Started back in 1971 by Mike Clasby, Coaches Corner began as Howard’s Pizza at the location of the Conrad Veterinary Clinic. It traveled many times through Conrad to places like Pondera Village Shopping Center, Joe’s Steakhouse and the Branding Iron before finding its current location at 608 S. Front Street. This location had been built to be a laundry mat.
Coaches Corner received its new name when it was bought by Randy and Gail Olson in 1983 as Randy was very involved with softball. It was bought by its current owners, Tom and Lauriena Yarger in 1996.
The Yargers moved to town from Glendive and Tom became the meat manager at Buttrey’s before buying the building on Front Street. He bought the building and ran it as a meat and deli shop, T&L Meats, from 1986 to 1996. Their decision to move to Conrad was easy as they say it is a “good place to raise kids.” They had three children; Christy Stubbs still lives in Conrad with a family of her own.
Coaches Corner has nine employees and is proud to have Janice Yeager in their ranks. She has been working for the restaurant since it was originally owned by Clasby. Cindy Howell has also been with them for over five years.
Coaches Corner offers fresh pizza straight out of the brick oven and even offers delivery. They also have a full service menu, offer catering and host private parties seven days a week.
Coaches Corner participates in the Conrad Area Chamber of Commerce, has participated many years in the Booster Club and does a lot with the Conrad Schools. They can be reached at 278-7731 or stop in between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
