Please 'BEAR' with us, our next paper will be out a day late!

The Independent-Observer will be closed on Friday and on Monday (Labor Day) to celebrate with family and friends.

Labor Day first occurred on Sept. 5, 1882 in New York City. It became a Holiday in 1894 as an Act of Congress and signed in by President Grover Cleveland.

This year, America will honor 153 million adults in the labor force and another estimated six million who work at home.

Have a safe Holiday and remember, the I-O will be out on Thursday, not Wednesday as usual.

Also, Editor Buck Traxler is going to have surgery on Sept. 21 and will be laid up for a short while.

If you have stories or pictures, please try to have them in by Friday. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
