Commissioners Cynthia Johnson and Sandy Broesder met with John Stokes, county road supervision, Mark Fitzgerald, the lead road operator and Anthony Flagg, VP of business development for United Grain and Joe Murphy, the project manager for Big Sky Civil and Environmental, Inc. on Wednesday.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the impact on the road and bridge in the area of the operation they intend to build outside the Conrad city limits.

During the discussion, Flagg, on behalf of United Grain Corp., (UGC) made an offer to assist financially with the upgrade of the bridge on Midway Road West to a box culvert.

He also requested county assistance, but the amount was not specified. Broesder moved to approve the approach agreement requested by UGC to encroach upon the Midway Road right of way described as the Midway West Road for the purpose of installing an approach on the north side of the road, with a culvert (size to be determined). Johnson seconded the motion and it passed on a 2-0 vote. Commissioner Joe Christiaens was absent.

An intergovernmental transfer agreement was approved, naming Sydney Blair as the county’s liaison with the State of Montana Mental Health Services Bureau regarding the county funds transfer for Medicaid match.

The funding for the match funds under the agreement is the state of Montana intergovernmental transfer for mental health services. The agreement passed on a 2-0 vote.

Ending what was a light agenda for the commissioner’s business meeting, the final approval of the Seifert minor subdivision was approved on a 2-0 vote.

In general, the property is located about 11-1/2 miles northwest of Valier, 2-1/2 miles west on Bullhead road from the west side Frontage Road. The site is north of Bullhead Road and south of Schultz Coulee.

The commission meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in their office. The public is always invited to attend and see their government at work.
