A Master Gardener Level 1 Class is scheduled to start on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Valier Civic Center.
Class members will complete the registration for the class that night. Registration will include a fee for materials and the new Master Gardener Handbook. Class members will help develop the rest of the eight week course meeting schedule.
The topic for the Feb. 21 class is Soils, Nutrients and Fertility. “We will bring local soils information and soils from the region,” says Dan Picard, Pondera County Extension Agent.
Class members will participate in soil texturing exercise. Discussions will include soil testing, plant nutrients and functions, deficiencies, and fertilizer-organic material recommendations.
The MSU Master Gardner Program is led by Toby Day, Extension Horticulturalist, and presented by local MSU Extension Agents.
