THE ART MAN — Conrad’s local artist Bob Moritz stands by one of his paintings at the Western Art Show in Great Falls. He has been showing his work for over 20 years at the Western Heritage Art Show at the Holiday Inn. This year he was president of the association’s art show.
The Western Heritage Art Show in Great Falls was just one of 13 art shows that make up Western Art Week.
The Western is the grand daddy and longest continuously running show, 31 years, of Western Art Week and Moritz, a local Conrad artist, has been a mainstay artist for over 20 years, and this year he is president for the Western Heritage.
Over 60 artists and photographers held their show at the Holiday Inn in Great Falls.
Moritz noted that The Western, on Thursday, raised funds for the Lewis and Clark Foundation with a ‘quick finish’ auction and on Saturday there was an Art and Yogo Gala benefitting the Montana Special Olympics.
Last year the Gala event raised almost $25,000 for the Olympics.
Folks may remember Jim Mepham who was a volleyball coach at CHS and later Superintendent of the Brady School before it merged with Dutton.
He is now an administrator in Ekalaka. Mepham won an award for his Grizzly photo of a mother sow and her two cubs titled Life’s Lessons.
