The Conrad golf team was in Shelby for a nine-hole quad meet Tuesday.

The Cowboys, putting together a team score of 212 placed fifth.

Individual scores for the team looked like this: Blake Underdahl 48, Jack Grubb 50, Lucas Fowler 55, Justin Salois 59, and CJ O’Connor 61.

“It’s still really early in the year and with the greens not open in Conrad yet, it’s very hard for the kids to get the feel of putting and chipping,” said Coach Todd Truscott.

Cowgirl sophomore Hayley Orcutt fashioned a round of 56 and came in fifth.

“I was very happy to have Hayley shoot a 56, she is firing up very solid rounds and I see her doing nothing but improving as the year goes,” said the coach.

Friday and Saturday the team was in Choteau for a sub-varsity and varsity meeting.

On the JV side, Ryan Thorton shot an 87, his personal best, and placed first.

Quinn Gianarelli shot a 108, Brandon French 109 and Kailey Judisch 152.

At the varsity meet, Hayley Orcutt continues  to place in the top 10, this meet shooting a 106, good for ninth place. Sierra Oehlke shot  115.

For the Cowboys, Blake Underdahl had a 102, Jack Grubb 103, Justin Salois 104, Lucas Fowler 105 and CJ O’ Connor had a 121.

Coach Truscott tells the I-O “The varsity meet had many good things happen, Hayley got another top 10 and is proving to be one of the better lady golfers in the 1B.”

He went on to add, “Mostly, everybody had a round in the 40’s which is a big improvement. We are getting better every day and if we continue to play like this, we will be peaking at the right time and could be a tough team to play against come the divisional tournament.”

Next up for the golfers is a meet on Saturday in Fairfield.

Conrad finally gets to have a home meet with a triangular meet on April 24 and a tournament at the PGC on April 28.
