Cowboys top tennis field

The Cowboy tennis team topped the Northwest B/C divisional tennis tournament in Cut Bank over the weekend.

Team places and scores went like this: 1. Conrad 47, 2. Cut Bank 26, 3. Valier 0.

In the doubles action, the team of Luke Schlosser-Camron Janzen were on a winning track, stopping teammates Brett Peters–Kesler Martin 6-3, 7-6(8) for the championship title.

On the singles side, junior Austin Zomer defeated Konnor Bjelland in the semi-finals but fell in the championship match 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Cowboys Steven Peters and Bjelland played for third and fourth with Peters taking the match, 6-2, 6-2.

In ladies action, final team scores and places looked like this: 1. Fairfield 48, 2. Conrad 37, 3. Cut Bank 28, 5. Choteau 16, 6. Valier 0.

In singles play, semifinals, Kristine Warlick defeated Emily Weisgram, 6-1, 7-6(9) and went on to place second in the tournament, falling in the championship final 6-2, 6-3.

Weisgram came on to place third, winning the consolation match by scores of 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles play, Megan Fetters-Jade Rodriguez placed third and the team of Trinity-Cox and Morgan VanDyke were in sixth place.
