Free E-waste recycling event

Electronic discards are one of the fastest growing segments of our nation’s waste stream.  56 percent of American households have functional e-products that they will no longer use.

Due to these facts the Pondera County Recycling Coalition and Montana DEQ will be sponsoring a free e-waste recycling event on Aug. 14-15 in Conrad.

E-waste is defined as any electronic equipment that has reached its ‘end of life’ or ‘end of usage’, whether in working or non-working condition.

People are encouraged to bring their outdated and unused electronics to the parking lot of the Pondera Shopping Center from 4-8 p. m. both days.

The city of Valier will also be hosting the same event on Aug. 13 from 2-5p.m. and Aug. 14 from 3-7 p.m.  The event will be located at the Valier Public Library parking lot.

Accepted material includes, televisions, flat panel displays, computer monitors, computers, laptops, keyboards, printers, mice, hard drives, tape and zip drives, fax machines, gaming consoles, DVD players, VCRs. Telephones, cell phones, digital cameras, radios, stereo components, cable and cords, power supplies, networking, equipment, modems, routers, switches, servers, printed circuit boards and lab equipment.

No small kitchen or bathroom appliances will be accepted.

“Bring down your unwanted electronics. They’ll be recycled responsibly and kept out of landfills or from being shipped overseas.  It’s safe, easy and best of all free,” says Dan Picard of the Pondera County Extension office.
