4-H Clubs do well at Marias Fair

15_mud-pig_0356STOP THAT PIG!  — Krista Judisch dives to try and tackle a pig at the Marias Fair. Along to help are teammates Morgan Fowler and Taylour Russell and not pictured Cole Wagoner of Valier. The object was to grab the pig, and put it in a barrel in the center of the mud pit. The new form of entertainment provided a lot of oink-oinks and laughs. Sorry, we missed the name of the pig.  I-O Photo by Amy Salois

At the 71st Marias Fair 50 Pondera County 4-H members and five Cloverbuds participated in a variety of events.

4-H members had the opportunity to show and discuss their accomplishments throughout the 4-H year with 29 talented experts in 15 different departments.

The judging process involves evaluating the 4-H member’s project and also their interviewing skills.  The Interview is also scored because it is a valuable life skill for youth to learn as they enter the job market. Five Cloverbuds Joshua Kaiser, Nicole Kaiser, Hannah Monroe, Lydia Vermulm and Tabitha Vermulm, also brought a variety of exhibits to the fair.  Nicole and Hannah also participated in the Fashion Revue contest and public showing at the fair.

Congratulations to all the youth who participated and to all the volunteers and sponsors who contribute to the 4-H program.  2012 marked the 100th Year of 4-H in Montana.
