Somehow the script didn’t follow the pattern.

Coach Ryan Fetherson was suppose to deposit his second win in the bank and Conrad was supposed to WOW the fans with a homecoming win.

That all fell apart on the Roundup Panthers’ first possession from the kick off.

Staying on the ground, the Panthers marched up the field and in nine plays they covered 64 yards, all on the ground for the early 6-0 lead. A two-point PAT failed.

On their first possession, a short kickoff by Roundup saw the Cowboys start at their 31 yard line. A five yard penalty, before they had their first snap of the game moved the ball back five yards.

Shane Larson converted a bad snap into a scrambling first down to the 41, but the squad was stopped short of a first down, after five plays they turned the ball over to Roundup.

The quarter ended with Roundup holding on to a six point lead.

The second quarter was a nightmare for Conrad.

Roundup scored in just four plays off a fourth and one keeper. Conrad got caught sleeping and the Panthers recovered an on-side kick at the 40 yard line and took three plays to score and go on top 0-18

Tyler Padilla got the kickoff out to the 41, but Larson fumbled the ball on their first play and it was recovered by the Panthers.

They used up four plays in scoring and this time the PAT was good and they led 0-26

Another on-side kick was tried, only this time Conrad recovered at the 50 yard line. The home boys got off two plays and then Larson passed was picked off.

Turn around was fair play and Padilla pulled in an interception and the Cowboys had great field position at the 37 yard line.

Conrad moved the ball down the five and with no time on the game clock, Larson scampered in for the team’s first sore. The PAT Kick was no good and at the half time, Roundup led 26-6.

In the third quarter, Larson streaked home for a score and in the final frame VandenBos ran the ball from eight and six yards out to make the score 24-40.

Coach Fetherson commented, “We have to start quick, not have any errors and be quick off the ball.”

He talked about the Bigfork Eagles noting they were 2-0. They are big, fast, strong, they execute well, don’t make errors, and they hustle.”

Fetherson added, “We’re a good team, we just have to hold on to ball and play to our ability.”

The Cowboys, in evening their record at 1-1 picked up 385 yards of offense against roundup.

Larson was 8-5 for passing with no TDs, one pick and 95 yards.

He rushed for 125 yards on 16 carries and had two TDs. VandenBos ran for 111 yards on 21 carries and had two TDs.

On the defensive side, Padilla had two solo tackles, four assists and one pick. Tyler Richter also intercepted a pass. VandenBos had 16 solo tackles and six assists.

The Panthers had 392 yards of offense in the game.
