Cowgirls gain a split in volleyball action

The Cowgirls hosted the Rocky Boys Morning Stars on Thursday and got a much needed win on the volleyball court as the season winds down.

Conrad won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-11.

The home ladies were in double figures for ace serves with 12. They allowed the Stars only five. Morgan VanDyke dropped in four and senior Taylor Judisch three.

The team slapped back 23 kill shots while Rocky Boy put back 15. VanDyke knocked back eight, Emily Harwood six and T. Judisch five.

Hayley Orcutt led the team with 15-23 assists while Michaela DeBoo and Justine Desjardin each had four.

The Cowgirls recorded 63 digs with VanDyke and Orcutt having 12 each and Desjardin 11.

Friday the team hosted Fairfield for the team’s final home game and last time three seniors, Desjardine, Warlick and T. Judisch would play volleyball in a regular season game.

The Eagles spoiled senior Night by taking the contest in three games by scores of 25-15, 25-10 and 25-23.

VanDyke scored two of the team’s four aces.

T. Judisch slapped back eight of 20 kill shots while VanDyke put over six.

Desjardin and Orcutt each had nine assists. K. Judisch had 5.5 blocks, Emily Harwood three and T. Judisch two. And of the 55 team digs, VanDyke put up 16 and T. Judisch eight.

Conrad goes to Browning on Friday for their final game of the season. The 1B District tournament opens up in Fairfield on Oct. 19, with the divisional tourney in Choteau the following week.
