The Independent-Observer will be closed on Thanksgiving and the day after, Nov. 23, so that we can have time to gather with family and friends to give thanks for the many blessings we have.
Originally, the fourth Thursday of the month began as a harvest celebration.
For many, the day following Turkey Day is better known as Black Friday, the greatest shopping day of the year.
City and county offices will be closed for the day, schools are locked up and if you want to rustle up some bacon ‘an eggs, you might have to cook your own, the Home Café will be closed. The Lobby is also closed but the Keg Restaurant will be open. They may have a special on hot turkey sandwiches.
Pure Bliss Cycle will be closed, but you can buy your loved one flowers at Country Charm Floral and Gifts.
Conrad Tire will be closed and so will be Courtesy Ford and Van Motors. Mike’s Muffler will be closed as well.
The banks in town will be open as will be the Town Pump, Gary and Leo’s IGA and Mountain View Co-op, and you can pick up that prom dress at The ‘N Thing or auto parts at K’s Auto Store.
The Mane Barber Shop and Shear Happiness will be closed.
Obviously this is not everyone, but it will give you a good idea of who is and who isn’t open.
